Programme and information
Word of Welcome
Copenhagen is a city of fairy tales and the home of our Queen.
It is a major regional centre of business, media, and science. It is famous for “Danish design” as well as the “New Nordic Cuisine” and in Copenhagen you will find a wide span of restaurants from those with Michelin stars including NOMA, several times nominated the best restaurant in the world, to less expensive restaurants with inspiration from all over the world.
Copenhagen has repeatedly been recognized as one of the cities with the best quality of life. It is also considered one of the world’s most environmentally friendly cities. The water in the inner harbor is so clean that one can swim in it, and 36% of all citizens commute to work by bicycle.
Copenhagen has a strategic location and excellent infrastructure with the largest airport in Scandinavia located 14 minutes by train from the city centre. The congress center, Hotel Scandic Copenhagen, is located in the very heart of the city within walking distance from Copenhagen Central Station, various possible accommodations and brings Copenhagen’s attractions to your doorstep.
Thyroid research has been growing in Denmark over the last decades, with focus on several subjects covering iodine deficiency (the Danthyr project), treatment of non toxic goiter including treatment with radioiodine therapy, alcohol and laser treatment, establishing a thyroid quality of live score (THYpro), nationwide registration of all thyroid cancers since 1994 (Dathyrca database), genetic implications on thyroid disease on twin studies, huge register studies demonstrating unknown correlations between thyroid disease and other diseases or life events – just to mention a few head lines.
We are looking forward to organizing the European Thyroid Associations 39th Annual Meeting in 2016, and are sure that that you will enjoy our beautiful Copenhagen. We hope to provide the frames for presentation of some excellent and original thyroid research and having interesting and rewarding discussions.
